Media Organizations – March 26, 10:00 AM, ZOOM
- Reading: Denis McQuail, Mass Communication Theory, Chapter 11
- Assessment: Essay (4–5 pages, Word, font size 11px, 1.5 line spacing) – Choose one mainstream and one alternative media organization in your country. Describe how they are organized, financed, who owns them, their institutional goals, etc. Discuss the pressures influencing their performance and their economic and political context. Finally, compare both media organizations.

New Media – April 9, 10:00 AM, ZOOM
- Reading: Denis McQuail, Mass Communication Theory, Chapter 6
- Assessment: Essay (2–3 pages, Word, font size 11px, 1.5 line spacing) – For one week, follow a news media outlet on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram from your country and analyze how they communicate online. Focus on topics, language, use of images and videos, and engagement with the audience. Compare this with the style of traditional media.
